I was amused by Matt Yglesias's
post on his confusion between intention and intension, which was a confusion I shared when I first started up with philosophy. I was more amused, however, by his suggestion that a professional association in philosophy might be able to do something like this. The main professional association, the APA, is not in the habit of weighing on definitions of terms of art. Also, just try to get a roomful of philosophers to agree on a) what any given term of art
really means, and b) what some delineated concept should be called. Best of luck with that one!
Philosophers don't have an equivalent to L'Académie française? Who knew?
