Someone please update the OED's "irony" entry

I may never stop laughing.

Pat Buchanan, that triumph of American statesmanship, attended a conference this past weekend in support of, among other things, making English the official language of the United States. In between the declarations that the GOP should reach out to its base of "white Americans" and encouraging outreach to "yellow people" (no... I did not make that last bit up), apparently there was no time for spell-checking.

  1. Well, I am curious yellow. oops, don't think that would go over well there. Yes, we all know Asians love to be referred to as yellow, I mean that is even worse than saying Oriental. But honestly, what can you expect from pitchfork Pat and VDare?
Do these people have any self awareness that demographics alone will drive them to practical irrelevancy?

  2. That's all Buchanan needs--confabbing with a white supremacist.

  3. Um... if Buchanan were to avoid white supremacists, who would be left of his supporters?

  4. I guess there are ultra-conservatives who aren't racist.

  5. Probably. But supporting Buchanan is probably a strong indicator to the contrary.
