Confidential to Governor Paterson

I have no doubt that Caroline Kennedy is a swell person. I'm glad she and her very famous family endorsed Obama. She has much to recommend her, no doubt, for all manner of plaudits and honors.

What she hasn't done is ever win an election on her own. Or hold any manner of high-profile elected office. Or do much to draw the notice of even unhealthily-obsessed political types like yours truly.

Please don't appoint her to the US Senate.

    Someone on George Stephanopoulos put it very well yesterday-- something like "and we expect other countries to believe we're not a tribal society!?" ;)
