So, I posted this link in the comments to Devin's post below about the deflationary value of corruption, but I thought it deserved its own post. Turns out Blago was totally low-balling that Senate seat.

I would have linked to the actual calculations, but they were done by the Club for Growth, which gives me an itchy rash.
